From Laura :
Today we had to throw simulated grenades through the windows of this building. We aimed for the big windows. Then if we made that, for bragging rights, we then aimed for the tiny windows. (By tiny, I mean the little one UNDER the big one!)
About half the guys made it into the big window.
No one made the small window.
A young female private tried, and couldn't even hit the building.
Of course, the pressure is on to save face, as about 50 guys are standing there, watching.
My turn.
I crouched down behind the concrete wall. I simulated pulling the pin, holding the safety, flipping the spoon. Then I pop up (well, it was more of a slow ascent than a pop) and toss the grenade.
Yep, a direct hit through the small window. The crowd roared!
I began to pick up another, as we get three to five grenades. Then I changed my mind, whirled around, and declared that I wasn't going to try to top that one. Everyone laughed with agreement.
Score one for the chicks!

Home Sweet Home
So here is where Laura lays her head. NICE.
Woulda been nicer if they told her to bring her own linens BEFORE she got there!
And, ahhhh, the roommates.....
Apparently, there are some women who stay there long term (why??). And one in particular is territorial, a boss mare if you will. Everyone has to be quiet when her highness is sleeping, the A/C must be on ARCTIC for her hot flashes, and there is no sleep when her alarm goes off and she hits snooze 87 times!
Sounds like fun.

Greetings from the Natty Guard!
Hi everyone! Welcome to Laura's blog about her "vacation" for the next year plus.
Week One
"The trailers are what I call "Doc in a box". We got our dental, innoculations, blood drawn, preg test (geesh), EKG, hearing test, and vision tests all done in these trailers. Inside the building was PAP and records review. I walked away, after 12 hours there, with a typhoid shot and one new tooth filling and a repaired chipped tooth.
The next shots are from training on day 2. We were divided into teams. We would land navigate out to five training stations, all the while looking for land mines, IEDs, and enemy."
Here we are doing Chemical Weapon Training:
