Home Base

The infamous folding bike:

Here is where I work during one of our many sand storms. The winds regularly pick up to 50 mph, packing sand that feels like needles when it hits your skin. Sand is always between our teeth and in our ears.

Outside our chow hall.
Which is why people dress like this.

The first picture is of our Chaplain's assistant. She looks more like a bank robber.

On 1 July, we took over command of the airfield from the outgoing unit. This is called a Relief In Place, or RIP.

KUWAIT CITY

Here are various buildings on the outskirts of Kuwait City.

Lots of wires here. Very hazardous for helicopter pilots.

A Kuwaiti doctor and his wife, who also works at the hospital

The famous towers of Kuwait City, and a park and boat yard along the shoreline.

Kuwait is on the Arabian Sea. And here it is!

If you look at the dark areas of the ocean, those are schools of fish, each about 4" long.

We went to TGI Friday's for lunch. It was very good!

Imagine my surprise when we walked in the door of TGI Friday's and saw a big screen TV showing Grand Prix Show Jumping!

The beach from TGI Friday's looked so inviting, but only from a distance....

This is what the beach looks like when you step onto it.
